Hey...Happy New Year...
we at Bode hope everyone had a great holiday season and is off to a great start in the new year.
There will be alot of exiting things happening this year at BODE...we will be creating a new room...the from desk area will be moving, the waiting room of course will be changed around, there will be a new washroom, the massage rooms will be re-decorated (updated) so many things ..im getting exhausted already thinking about it...heck I need a massage....

Of course I (Daniel) along with Robb will be touring again with E.S.I. to educate the spa world about MENS needs and wants in this industry. We start off the year in February to Vancouver then in April off to VEGAS baby...you got to like that one...We will also be holding a class on how to wax men (to industry professionals) here in Ottawa in January. We are looking into expanding this to offer interest classes to you on friend-couple massage, proper skin care etc....

We are always researching new product so please if you hear of anything or are using something you feel we should know about or carry ...let us know

GOLDEN MOOR....mud baths are back...we have both the pine mud bath as well as the body scrub...

If you are in the need of essential oils..let us know and what kinds as we place orders monthly and can bring in the special ones you need for your home use.

On January 21st we will be announcing some exciting news so stay tuned...

Last year we held a wine and chocolate pairing evening here at the spa along with the introduction of some new art..it was such a success that this year we are going to do it again..but more than likely at an off site location...mainly because of the interest....yes there will be chocolate..and demo spa services..along with so much more..that date and information will be announced at some point in January as well..with the date being in the first 2 weeks of February.

We have a monthly news letter which you can sign up for if interested from our web site page....this gives some great information with whats happening at BODE...(yes we have a point system..1 point = 1 dollar) as well as great tips on how to care for yourself at that time year and season...

I can keep going ...but since I will be putting up stuff on the blog every few days im going to save some for the next entry...

Bob Norburn Shave cream

For all of our clients that fell in love with Bob Norburn shave cream....that we did carry for quite some time...but then supplies were hard to get. Well we will soon be able to get some supplies...
but it is not called Bob Norburn anymore...it is under a different name and has found some different uses as well..

It has been way to long since I wrote anything in the Bode Blog !! and even at that I only had 1 entry!!
so im am going to do my best to at least have a weekly entry. My very PRE: New Years resolution for the up coming 2012

For any of you that do read this blog or others to come !!!...please do feel free to comment or better yet...please give me some topics you would like me to cover or investigate as I love a challenge...

December is upon us and as in the past years I have already started watching the clients come through the Spa door in a Christmas tizzy already. The decorations are out to soon, have you set up your xmas decorations yet, what to get for the family, the extra hours of work already, possible planning of holidays, escaping the xmas family crazzies or staying in town, or the rush to get things in order before you rush back home where ever that may be.

We (BODE SPA) hope we are ready for you, with calmness, more staff, great products, new services and hopefully a lot of xmas cheer.

One of the fun things I thought I would do for fun this December and to help out you Christmas shoppers that turn to us for your gift ideas.
I will be featuring a product or product package at a special price each and every day...so something new every day of December...
But the most fun of all is I have come up with a different Gift Certificate package for each day of December from the 1st to the 24th (for you last minute shoppers) each day I will feature a different Gift Certificate service package.....priced extra special.....

Waxing has been quite the busy busy business for us here at the spa...so much so that 2 of us was just not enough...so I recently brought on Brian our newest addition to help us ...mainly because we were going crazy...mainly to help you the client...so now there are three of us able to cater to your waxing needs and appointment times...so it should be much easier to get in....we are also fully stocked on all our after wax care items...if you have bumps, need a scrubbing tool or have ingrown issues...just ask one of the waxing professionals for help...

You might have already spoken to Eric...also a new Bode addition....Eric fills the role of spa manager..so he is here for you...making your appointments, taking care of front desk, getting message to the right staff member and most importantly keeps all the Bode staff team in line....yep !!! he has a tough job....I hope he makes it... : )

ahhh your wondering if you even know who is here at the Spa anymore....well we just finished a photo shoot here this week..so finally the "team" part of the website will be up shortly with staff pictures and bio's ..this will give you a bit of an insight to the different staff members and who they are professionally.

mmm...not doing so bad on content...I was not sure on what I was going to write about...

I brought back a product line that I used to carry at my old Spa (Little House) mainly because the products and great and not expensive...that line is POYA. I will be bringing in more items but for now I have brought in an amazing VANILLA BODY BUTTER...mmm the smell $18, JUNIPER LEMON EXFOLIATING SCRUB for oily skin and SANDALWOOD ROSE EXFOLIATING SCRUB for dry skin $15 a little goes a long way, GRAPEFRUIT MINT MOISTURIZER $20, an amazing smelling WARM AND SPICY BODY WASY (I think most of the bode staff now owns) $20, SUPER FINE EPSOM SALTS for your bath $4.50, and to help out with the cold season..as it aids in easier breathing when added to you humidifier or bath...EUCALYPTUS RADIATA $16 (100ml)
quite a few of the products contain 100% pure certified organic essentials oils
great gifts for yourself....

As for essential oils this company also has a very full list available...so if there are essential oils that you would like me to bring in ....Please let me know....and I will do so....great for baths, massage oils, room scents, diffusers etc...

The season is changing outside and inside....we dress warmer and we start turing on our furnaces (gas, oil, electric, rads.) all this takes toll on our skin...so try out the body scrubs and time for a facial....

Bode at the Montreal spa trade show !!!

What a great few days....Robb, Eric and I (Daniel) are back from the ESI Spa Trade show that was in Montreal September 26th and the 27th. This is one of their larger shows the place was busy.

Robb and I are both teaching classes and gave a total of 4 seminars.
Robb teaches a class on how to give a proper MENS facial (skin care) and I gave a class on Male waxing from head to toe. we had a total of 13 students.

The fun part is wondering through the trade show and finding new products, developements etc....so wait and see what we might be bringing in over the next month or 2.

We will also be taking our Bode act to Edmonton next in October.

Over the next few days I will include some of the new items we found and some great information on developments.

Dont forget to pick up the newest edition of UM magazine as it has the ultimate guide to shaving....steps and instructions put together by Robb and myself.

Shaving and new Product trials

Men face alot when it comes to shaving...wether that is a full face shave, just the neck or a little shaping here and there. As well try being a guy with facial hair going in for a facial...most estheticians have no idea on what to do for a guy with a beard.

So what do we do at Bode...well we also teach and educated in the professional spa field, through out this year both Robb and myself (Daniel) have been spreading the word on Male spa care. One of the topics we cover ( a professional class) is mens skin care (facials) and how to deal with facial hair. Of course we need someone with facial hair and since im the one that can grow a beard in less then a week guess what..I know have a well maintained beard...or I used to...I have kept the beard I finally grew for several months now....and then I came across a new shave line that needed testing...yes thats right time for me to shave.

I never really had facial hair, I was always trying to get rid of it....so I have tried my fair share of shaving products...the one I have been most happy with has been E shave....then I have also tried the Dermalogica line ..also good.... and now the new line Bode has decided to give a whirl and see what it would do...we love the ingredients so far..which for us is the first step..as so many products out there have ingredients in their shaving lines that just have no purpose of being there...
ok I am in love with the shave oil..called "head master shave oil" by Grooming Lounge. WOW love it.. I started off with this on my skin (after a shower of course to open the pores and soften the hairs) followed up with the "beard destroyer shave cream" ..again WOW..after my final blows of the shave..my skin was amazing..so far the closest shave I have encountered...people even commented..and this being day 2 now...my face only feels like it would normally on the afternoon of the same day I shaved....love it

Ok..so now back to growing the facial hair....even my own Mother said she prefers me with my facial hair...thanks Mom...

At Bode we are always testing out new products for guys when it comes to personal care, so if you have a favourite or one you heard of let us know....and we will give it a try....

as for the Grooming Lounge...we are looking into it....we are also testing out their hair care products at the moment as well...
