Sugaring vs Waxing

What is the difference between Waxing and Sugaring ? Is one better than the other ? What is the effectiveness of sugar ? Which one should I do ? The questions go on and on

When it comes right down to it, simply it is your choice. Both waxing and sugaring have the same end result in the hair removal area. HAIR GONE !!!

For each person the length of time between regular waxing appointments is different but with in the range of 4 to 8 weeks. At Bode Spa we do wax/sugar almost everything - we do not do the hair on your head or beard. We do back, shoulders, neck line, arms, hands, fingers, under arms,  chest, stomach, butt, crease,  sack, shaft, pubic area, legs, feet, toes, brows, ears and nose. These wax/sugar services are available separately or combined and also customized to you.

Wax contains resin which adheres to dead skin and live skin while removing the hair and Sugar adheres to only dead skin. This simply means less skin trauma and less skin discomfort. Wax feels nice going on but uncomfortable coming off while sugar is uncomfortable going on (as it is dragged across your hair) but does not hurt coming off. Wax is spread on the skin with the direction of the hair growth and pulled off against the hair growth which also causes a little more trauma below the skin. Sugar is put on against the hair growth (a little ouch) but is pulled off in the direction of the hair growth so very little feeling. Waxing is a faster technique as it is spread on then pulled off with a cotton strip. Sugar is dragged over the hair approx. 3 times on the same area before it is flicked off. This is simply some basic information.

If you are curious - ask us to do a sample area of wax and sugar so that you will be able to feel the difference and walk away and see how the regrowth and skin healing go. We are there to help.

When doing the crease and the bits down below we use only sugar and in a different method (strips) as these are thinned skinned areas and membrane tissue. When doing the nose and ears we use a hard wax again a safer product when dealing with sensitive areas

I hope this might generate some questions so do send them in and we will answer them all.

Daniel
